2 ½ Program
Our 2 ½ Year Old program offers a chance for children to establish independence and responsibility. Our experienced teacher exposes the students to the social dynamics of a peer group. Children learn sharing, manners, and respect while having a great deal of fun together in their new community. Play is an essential part of learning any new information and materials are specially chosen to enhance the needs and interests of the children.
An emphasis on textures, multiple art mediums, and expanding vocabulary allow our students to explore basic language, math and small and gross motor skills. Each day the class meets in a circle time to read stories, sing songs, and participate in community building activities. This class enjoys a daily sensori-motor class in our “Fun Room” as well as a weekly music class. Science is integrated into our curriculum with age appropriate activities including outside time as much as weather allows. We love to experience the world with our youngest students and plan two field trips throughout the year that allow parents to join with the teachers in class that day. Children must be toilet trained to enter this class.
As in all of our age levels, staff constantly refers to the Ohio Prekindergarten Content Learning Standards, Early Childhood research, and information from our area Kindergarten programs to assure that First School Students are prepared to excel when transitioning to their next level of school.
